SAHRA MELLESSE

​I was born in the birthplace of hip-hop. Raised on rhythm and realness. I started out writing poetry and taking youth theater classes to stay out of trouble (shoutout to my mom for that). That led to a breakout role in the Sundance hit Pariah, appearances on Law & Order: SVU and Cold Case, and a series regular role in the animated series Speed Racer: The Next Generation.

 

Behind the scenes I’ve worked at HBO and Queen Latifah’s production company Flavor Unit, and these days you can catch me writing cue cards at Saturday Night Live!

 

Whether I’m acting, writing, producing, assisting, gripping, or AD’ing — if it helps tell the story, I’ve probably done it.

 

At the heart of it all, my mission remains the same: tell stories that matter.
